Penn State advanced to No. 4 in the College Gymnastics Association’s (CGA) Week 1 NCAA men’s gymnastics Power Rankings after a solid season-opener against Army last weekend.

Oklahoma also rose one place, to No. 2, and bumped down Michigan to third. The Wolverines rested a number of gymnasts last week while scoring a 400.6, which lagged the 402.9 that Penn State put up the same day. Michigan is also dealing with injuries to top gymnasts.

The rankings are based on the votes of a panel of men’s gymnastics experts surveyed by the CGA, including Gymnastics Now, and will be shared weekly throughout the season on the GymNow site as part of our partnership with the association.

Penn State’s move to No. 4 also pushed Nebraska into fifth. The rest of the rankings remained unchanged from preseason.
