Lee still struggling with that side aerial to LOSO LOSO on beam. Just not her day in training. Will be interesting to see how tomorrow goes for her.
Fri. May 17 @ 11:20 a.m.
Biles follows up her earlier set with an incredible toe 1/1 to tucked double-double off bars. We’re really getting the whammy routines for Paris!
Fri. May 17 @ 11:12 a.m.
Simone Biles with a technically great, typical hit bars set. Just floats through it. A reminder of how far her “weakest event” has come and how she’s even a world medalist on it.
Fri. May 17 @ 11:11 a.m.
Konnor McClain may have not competed elite for the past two years, but she is looking great for her first meet back at this level. Especially coming off NCAA season – on first glance, seems like she is on the right track.
Fri. May 17 @ 11:09 a.m.
Suni Lee running through beam: Triple wolf turn. Switch leap to switch half to ring jump. Off on the second layout of her side aerial to LOSO LOSO series. Good ring leap. Tuck gainer full dismount… later seemed to be working a piked version.
Fri. May 17 @ 10:59 a.m.
Suni still struggling with the potential “Lee” on bars. Some rough falls.

Powerful tucked double-double from Jade Carey off bars. Straight up and down!
Fri. May 17 @ 10:57 a.m.
Suni Lee had a rough fall on her full-twisting Jaeger a few minutes ago. Slammed onto the mat after seemingly catching with fingertips.
Fri. May 17 @ 10:52 a.m.
Simone with a lot of big layout timers here this morning. We may see the YDP here shortly.
Fri. May 17 @ 10:37 a.m.
Earlier this morning, Leanne Wong and Shilese Jones participated in a press conference at the XL Center. We’ll share notes and quotes from that here in a bit.
Fri. May 17 @ 10:30 a.m.
Second rotation notes from Session 2:
- Shilese Jones catches the laid-out Jaeger on bars. She’s planning to compete that new skill tomorrow. We shared footage of her training it at women’s national team camp back in February.
- WCC did a lot of tumbling on floor and is now marking through routines. Big tumbling from the whole group, but especially Simone Biles and Joscelyn Roberson. Biles is bringing back the triple-double on floor. Jordan Chiles did a front full through to full-twisting double back and looked solid.
- Simone’s new floor routine starts with a Taylor Swift moment. She also has a killer drop into her wolf turn. Looks like a powerful and exciting set for the Olympic year.
- Excellent standing full from Skye Blakely – absolutely stomped it.
- Stucky, floaty double layout from Trinity Thomas.
- Leanne Wong also looked strong on bars. A few form issues, but hitting her handstands and minor things that can easily be cleaned up.
Fri. May 17 @ 10:15 a.m.
First rotation notes from Session 2:
- Double pike from Joscelyn Roberson off beam. If you didn’t know she’s spent the better half of the last seven months recovering from an injury, you wouldn’t be able to tell. Looks like she’s picking back up where she left off.
- Allll the double pikes off beam from World Champions Centre.
- Some of McClain’s balance beam: Standing full, BHS BHS to two-footed layout, switch leap to switch half, front aerial, split jump to straddle jump. Side aerial. Switch ring.
- Tumbling from Suni on floor: double layout, 1.5 to full, double tuck. Going through turns and dance elements as well.
- Biles beam: Typical switch leap to switch half to back pike mount from Biles. Triple wolf. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump. BHS LOSO LOSO. Side aerial. Full-twisting double back dismount.
- Gabby Douglas just floating on bars. You can tell the difference, even after eight years away, of her touch on the apparatus vs. others. She hit a great set.
