FORT WORTH, Texas – The 2024 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships began in Fort Worth Thursday with semifinal competition.

Oklahoma shocked the gymnastics world when the defending back-to-back national champions knocked themselves out of competition with a disastrous vault rotation to start the meet that resulted in a virtually insurmountable 48.325. In addition to the major errors on vault, they also had to count a fall on beam in the third.

Instead, there will be a new champion come Saturday afternoon, when LSU (198.1125), Utah (197.9375), Florida (197.875), and California (197.7125) go head-to-head in the 2024 Four on the Floor.

The Tigers and Bears advanced from Session 1 of the semifinals, beating Stanford (197.075) and Arkansas (196.475). The Utes and Gators advanced from Session 2, topping Oklahoma (196.6625) and Alabama (195.4125).

The Tide also struggled, knocking themselves out of competition in the second rotation after four falls on beam.

Individual champions were crowned Thursday at the conclusion of the semifinals, with Stanford’s Anna Roberts winning vault (9.95), Florida’s Leanne Wong and Oklahoma’s Audrey Davis tying for the bars title (9.9625), Davis and teammate Faith Torrez tying for the beam title (9.9625), and LSU’s Aleah Finnegan winning floor with a 9.9625.

LSU’s Haleigh Bryant edged Jade Carey and Leanne Wong for the all-around title. Bryant went 39.7125 across the four events to Carey and Wong’s 39.700s.

The Four on the Floor national final will be Saturday at 3 p.m. CT – live on ABC.
