Olympic all-around champion Suni Lee is leaving Auburn after her upcoming sophomore season to focus on elite gymnastics in a bid for the 2024 Paris Games.

“I don’t want it [the Olympics] to just be once in a lifetime,” Lee said in a video posted Tuesday. “I have my sights set on Paris in 2024, and I know what I have to do to get there. I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and putting in the work.”

The 19-year-old hasn’t competed in elite competition since the Tokyo Games, but she has been in attendance at national team camps this year. Lee has previously hinted at this decision, so it doesn’t come at a surprise that she would signal her farewell season in a bid of good faith to her school.

Lee had an exceptional freshman season with Auburn, finishing runner-up in the all-around to Florida’s Trinity Thomas, winning the national balance beam title, and helping Auburn to a program-best, fourth-place team finish.
