LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – WOGA’s Claire Pease won the 2024 Winter Cup junior women’s all-around title inside Kentucky International Convention Center on Friday night, scoring a 52.700.

GAGE’s Lavi Crain was close behind in second with a 52.400, and Addy Fulcher (Bull City) and Tyler Turner (Airborne) tied for third with matching 50.450s.

Pease started her day on bars, where she displayed the most difficult set in the field with a 6.0 D-score. It included three exceptionally difficult inbars and a double front half dismount, scoring a 14.200 – a point ahead of Fulcher in second place (13.200).

Inbars are difficult for the best bar workers in the world, so to have that many in a routine as a junior is a feat in and of itself.

“I feel so comfortable swinging and feeling the timing and to kind of feel like I’m flying through the air,” Pease said when asked why she likes pushing difficult skills on the event.

Pease rotated to beam where her dominance continued, scoring a 13.600 for her set that opened with a candle mount, included a superb back handspring to layout stepout to layout stepout, front aerial to straddle jump to back handspring, switch leap to split jump to Onodi, and dismounted with a two-and-a-half twist.

On floor, Pease encountered a bit of trouble. After opening with a basically stuck one-and-a-half twist to front full, she put her hand down on her full-twisting double back. She finished strong, though, and thanks to her difficulty buffer, the damage was minimal despite an 11.700.

“Once I do that skill, move on, think about the next, do another skill, move on, think about the next, so I just kind of have to let it go,” Pease said when asked how she was able to recover from the error.

Pease was three-tenths behind Crain heading into the final rotation, but her full-twisting Yurchenko (13.200) was enough to eke out the title as Crain went 12.600 on floor.
