Olympic Channel to air 2019 World Championships May 25-May 31
Olympic Channel is throwing it back this week!
That’s right, beginning tonight, Olympic Channel will be broadcasting replays of the 2019 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships at 8 p.m. ET every night from Monday, May 25, through Saturday, May 30. The week is capped off with a Stuttgart gymnastics marathon on Sunday, May 31. Starting at 10 a.m. ET, fans will be able to watch all 2019 World finals over 13 hours.
The U.S. women’s team dominated the 2019 World Championships with eight medals. Reigning World and Olympic champion Simone Biles led that charge with five out of six possible wins.
Biles became the first gymnast since 1958 to earn five gold medals at a single World Championships with her performance in Stuttgart. She also made history debuting two new skills for the first time on the international stage: a double-twisting double back dismount off balance beam and a triple-twisting double back on floor exercise.
Other Team USA athletes highlighting the competition include two-time Olympian Sam Mikulak, four-time World medalist Jade Carey, three-time World medalist Sunisa Lee, and 2017 World bronze medalist Yul Moldauer.
Currently, Carey is the only Team USA athlete to have mathematically clinched an individual spot for next year’s Tokyo Olympics.
The international field for Stuttgart was impressive as well.
On the men’s side, Nikita Nagornyy (RUS), Artur Dalaloyan (RUS), Oleg Verniaiev (UKR), Carlos Yulo (PHL), Max Whitlock (GBR), and Arthur Mariano (BRA) are just some of the standout athletes featured.
On the women’s side, Nina Derwael (BEL), Becky Downie (GBR), Liu Tingting (CHN), Angelina Melnikova (RUS), Ellie Downie (GBR), Tang Xijing (CHN), and Li Shijia (CHN) challenge the Americans.
All coverage will stream on OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app, in addition to NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
See below for the full schedule. All events from May 25-30 will air at 8 p.m. ET.
