Kaliya Lincoln UB: Stalder 1/1, very short. Chow to stalder Tkatchev and she’s off. Remounts, hits the next skill, Pak salto was a struggle, completely bent knees. Van Leeuwen with leg separation. Double back was beautiful. 9.9, including a -0.1 ND.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 5:05 p.m.

Jordan Chiles off on beam. Didn’t see on what skill, but did see she fought for it and couldn’t hang on. 12.100.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 5:01 p.m.

Simone Biles BB: Switch leap to switch half to back pike is a hit today! She missed that connection on Day 1. Triple wolf turn, excellent. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump. BHS LOSO LOSO, solid. Side aerial. Full-twisting double back, hop back. 14.850.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:50 p.m.

Joscelyn Roberson BB: Clean standing full. Switch leap to switch half to back tuck, excellent. Side aerial to LOSO LOSO, little hesitation on the landing but clean. Full turn. Bobble on her Onodi. Double pike, small step. 13.200.

Jade Carey FX: Full-twisting double-double, great. Tucked double-double, little bit of a rebound. Clean front layout through to double pike. Double back, another bit of a rebound. 13.100, -0.1 ND.

  • FX: Shilese Jones = 14.100

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:35 p.m.

Suni Lee BB: She fell on her flight series Day 1, so looking for a redeeming routine today. Straddle mount. Triple wolf turn, good. Front aerial to split jump to BHS, little bobble but she saves it. Switch leap to switch half to ring jump, good, maybe a bit conservative. Side aerial LOSO LOSO is good today, besides the slightest bobble. Switch ring to split leap, don’t know if she’ll get that connection. Stuck tucked gainer full. 14.200.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:31 p.m.

Shilese Jones FX: Wolf turn. Tucked double-double, clean but hop forward. Triple (?) L-turn, lovely. This routine is stunning. Front full through to double back. Full-twisting double back. Feel like the international judges are going to love that. 14.100.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:26 p.m.

Joscelyn Roberson UB: Clear hip half to Ezhova. Clear hip 1/1, a bit over. Maloney to Pak salto. Toe shoot. Clear hip. Toe-on. Double layout. If you’re wondering, she is, indeed, missing the same bar release requirement, but her coach Laurent said they’re focused on her hitting right now and will work on adding the gienger or another skill after this. 11.800.

Jade Carey BB: Carey falls on beam for the second day. 12.050.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:16 p.m.

Leanne Wong FX: Basically stuck tucked double-double. Stuck double layout. Girl is COMING for that all-around podium. Wonginators, this is your time. Double L-turn to full turn. Half to front full, hop forward, but she stays in bounds. Stuck double pike. ICON. 14.000.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:14 p.m.

Jordan Chiles UB: Toe 1/1. Off on her piked Tkatchev, just missed the catch. Redoes it and connects to the Pak salto. Maloney to inbar gienger. Piked Jaeger. Bail. Toe shoot. Stuck full-twisting double back. 12.950.

Kaliya Lincoln VT: Strong double-twisting Yurchenko. 13.900.

Kayla DiCello VT: Another clean double-twisting Yurchenko. Legs might’ve been a bit soft. 14.100.

Zoe Miller UB: Inbar 1/1 to Maloney. Straddled Tkatchev. Stalder to piked Tkatchev to Pak salto. Van Leeuwen. Nearly stuck double layout. 14.300.

Skye Blakely VT 1: Probably the best of double-twisting Yurchenkos this rotation. Minimal pike, straight legs. 14.250.

VT 2: Half-on, full off. Very clean. 14.150 average.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:01 p.m.

Top scores from Rotation 1:

  • VT: Simone Biles = 14.850
  • UB: Alicia Zhou = 13.600
  • BB: Shilese Jones = 14.300
  • FX: Kaliya Lincoln = 14.050

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 4:00 p.m.

BEAUTIFUL flared out full-twisting double layout and ensuing double layout. So clean.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:57 p.m.

Joscelyn Roberson VT 1: Better Cheng than Day 1 – excellent! Basically stuck. Still needs a little more height/distance, but it’s slowly improving. 14.450

VT 2: Double-twisting Yurchenko – clean and should earn her the title since Biles didn’t do a second. 14.175 average.

Skye Blakely FX: Tucked double-double, too big of a rebound and touches the floor. Huge double layout, OOB. Double wolf turn. Punch front through to double back, OOB. 12.200, -0.3 ND.

Leanne Wong BB: Beautiful BHS LOSO. Lovely single L-turn. Lovely 2.5 dismount. Coming for her third-straight world team berth. 13.700.

Jade Carey UB: Toe-on straddled Tkatchev. Ezhova. Maloney to Bhardwaj. Van Leeuwen looked a bit sloppy. Full-twisting double back, small hop. Overall, a clean set, and great for Jade to get that out of the way. 13.250.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:50 p.m.

Kayla DiCello FX: Good opening double-double, small hop back. Triple wolf turn. 1.5 to front full, small hop forward. Basically stuck double pike. Probably the best routine of DiCello’s elite comeback so far.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:41 p.m.

Kaliya Lincoln FX: The talk is Lincoln is a dark horse for the world team, partially because of this routine. HUGE tucked double-double that she flairs out somehow. Full-twisting double layout, slightlyyy short so has to stutter forward, but she’s possible the least piked of anyone in the field on that skill. Punch front full through to double back – outstanding. 14.050, -0.1 ND.

They have Zoe Miller credit for a DTY originally, but it’s since been corrected and the score is a 13.600.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:38 p.m.

Shilese Jones BB: Switch leap to switch half – excellent. Let’s see if she makes this connection today… nope, just the standing Arabian. Takes the split jump out. BHS BHS two-footed layout is excellent. Side aerial, lovely. Switch leap to Sissone. Excellent double pike, just a small step. 14.300.

Jordan Chiles VT: Lovely double-twisting Yurchenko. Great power. 14.250.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:35 p.m.

Simone Biles VT: Starts with the Cheng, just a step. Less overpowered than its looked this week, which is a good thing… and that’s it. No Yurchenko double pike today. We’ll find out after why she opted not to, but what’s a U.S. vault title in the grand scheme of things? She got her reps in for the two earlier this week ahead of selection camp and worlds. 14.850 – 9.250 execution score.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:32 p.m.

Tiana Sumanasekera VT: Very nice double-twisting Yurchenko, one large step back. 14.100.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:30 p.m.

Intros over! One touch happening now for Rotation 1. Here’s the routines to look out for this rotation:

  • Vault: Biles, Chiles, Roberson
  • UB: Disidore, Booth, Carey
  • BB: Jones, Matthews, Wong
  • FX: Lincoln, Blakely

Biles and the WCC crew will rotate in Olympic order (vault, bars, beam, floor).

Reminder that the top two all-arounders earn automatic invites to world team selection camp. Right now, that’s Biles and Jones.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 3:18 p.m.

Athlete intros about to get started, but first, they’re honoring the Beijing 2008 men’s and women’s teams on the 15th anniversary of that Games.

Front aerial to split jump to BHS. Switch leap to switch half to ring jump, as it should be done. Side aerial to LOSO LOSO and she’s off. Switch ring, small stumble. Stuck tucked gainer full. 13.250.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 7:22 p.m.

Nothing quite like having two Olympic all-around champions going at the same times – Suni on beam and Simone on bars.

Simone Biles UB: Clear hip 1/2 to Maloney. 1/1 to piked Tkatchev to Pak salto. Van Leeuwen. Toe 1/1 to full-twisting double back, nearly stuck. That darn toe 1/1 was giving her trouble in training, so good to see her get through it. 14.350.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 6:59 p.m.

Leanne Wong FX: Little stumble on her opening wolf turn. BIG tucked double-double, hop back. Double layout landing is weird, bit deep in the knees, big step back and OOB. Half to front full, small hop forward. 13.350.

Top scores from Rotation 3:

  • VT: Simone Biles = 15.700

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 6:27 p.m.

Joscelyn Roberson VT 1: We’re seeing a trend of lower energy and under-rotated Chengs from Roberson in podium training, just for her to use the adrenaline or whatever other magic and lay down excellent ones in competition. Still might been the slightest bit under-rotated, but very powerful nonetheless. 14.650.

VT 2: Double-twisting Yurchenko, small hop back.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 6:25 p.m.

Biles follows with a beautiful Cheng. Makes it look easy. Great distance, big hop back. And Laurent acted like it wasn’t even on their minds a couple days ago. Lol.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 6:22 p.m.

HUGE Yurchenko double pike from Simone Biles! Just a smallll step. And the crowd is still cheering as she walks down the podium for her second vault. And yes, Laurent was on the podium for that. 15.700 after the -0.5 ND for Laurent being there. 9.800 execution.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 6:21 p.m.

Beautiful double-twisting Yurchenko from Jordan Chiles on vault. 14.300.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 5:53 p.m.

Kaliya Lincoln BB: Double wolf turn. BHS to two-footed layout is perfect. Front aerial, knees looked soft, to split jump to straddle jump. Switch leap and breaks the connection on the switch half. Side aerial. Huge double pike, so much power. 13.250.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 5:51 p.m.

Skye Blakely goes 14.050 on beam. Had a bit of a stumble on her wolf turn and then there were little minor errors peppered throughout. 7.950 E-score. But when she did hit, it was basically perfect.

Tiana Sumanasekera BB: Candle mount. BHS BHS to two-footed layout, super confident. Front aerial to split jump to swing down. Switch leap to switch half, looked good. Fri. Aug. 25 @ 5:28 p.m.

Great full-twisting double back dismount. 14.450.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 5:25 p.m.

Jordan Chiles BB: Perfect BHS LOSO LOSO Front aerial to straddle jump to BHS. Full turn. Side somi, solid. Switch leap, think she missed the switch half connection. Just axes it and goes straight to the next. Switch straddle 1/4. Double back, hop back. 13.000.

Some updates from warmups:

Simone Biles warmed up a Cheng – first time we’ve seen that since Tokyo. Laurent Landi told us it would be the second vault a couple days ago, but he acted like it wasn’t ready yet. But Simone is Simone, so that’s about all you need to know on that.

Meanwhile, Elle Mueller scratched after needing medical help on floor.
