Hezly Rivera UB: Toe 1/1, excellent. Chow and then off on the connecting release. Pak salto. Van Leeuwen. Toe 1/2 to piked Jaeger. Full-twisting double back, large step to the side. 12.550, and it’s enough to still take the title!

Claire Pease fell on bars. Finished strong with a full-twisting double back.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 11:58 a.m.

Simone Rose FX: 1.5 to front double full, and she under-rotates it and sits it. 2.5 to punch front is good. Triple wolf turn, clean. Double back, hop back. So much passion in that routine. Beautiful choreography. Just wasn’t her day.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 11:49 a.m.

Kieryn Finnell earns a 13.250 for her full-twisting Yurchenko on vault.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 11:14 a.m.

Maliha Tressel BB: BHS mount, very clean. Beautiful BHS LOSO. Wolf turn was rough, bent leg. Stumble on her side aerial and she’s off. Switch leap, beautiful. Switch half. Front aerial, slightly soft knees. Good jump series. Hesitated a bit going into her double back dismount, but the dismount itself is excellent! 11.050.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 11:06 a.m.

Kieryn Finnell BB: Switch leap mount, good. BHS LOSO LOSO, literally floats. Switch leap to switch half, like it’s supposed to be done. Front aerial to split jump to swing down. Side aerial. Switch side straddle, and she’s off, just missed the landing. Double pike, stumble back but she keeps it on her feet. Well, now the three leaders have all made mistakes, with Finnell and Rose both falling. Who knows what’s going to happen halfway through. 13.100.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 10:59 a.m.

Hezly Rivera FX: BIG double layout, one foot OOB. Full-twisting double back, small hop. Double wolf turn, smooth. Punch front through to double back, uncontrolled rebound, OOB. Don’t know what happened on that 2.5 twist, but it looked like it would hurt my knees. Unsure if she actually sat it, but she went lowwww. 12.050, -0.4 in ND.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 10:55 a.m.

Simone Rose UB: Maloney to clear hip to straddled Tkatchev, and she slips off. Ezhova. Van Leeuwen. Great double layout, small hop. Really was a beautiful routine minus the fall, but that opens the door wide open for Rivera and Finnell. 11.950.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 10:40 a.m.

Hezly Rivera BB: Clean wolf turn. Side aerial. BHS LOSO, a big large of a lunge on the landing, but no wobbles. Switch leap to switch half. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, singing the arms a little. Switch ring. Stumbles back a little on the double pike but keeps it on her feet.

Sun. Aug. 27 @ 10:35 a.m.

We love an Ella Kate Parker HIT on bars, including a stuck double layout! 12.100.

Simone Rose VT 1: Beautiful and cleanly-executed full-twisting Yurchenko. 13.150.

VT 2: Yurchenko 1.5 is clean but slightly under-rotated, so she takes a couple steps back.

Hezly Rivera FX: Big double back and BIG OOB. Both feet. Going to be at least -0.2 in ND. Full-in, bit uncontrolled on the landing. Punch front through to layout, just a timer pass. 2.5, step forward, but seemed to keep it in bounds. 12.150.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:22 p.m.

Sage Bradford FX: Whip + whip + double back – love that opening pass! 1.5 to front full. Double pike, large hop back, looked like she kept it in bounds though. 12.500.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:21 p.m.

Simone Rose UB: Maloney to clear hip straddled Tkatchev. Stalder half to Ezhova. Van Leeuwen. 1/1. Double layout. GREAT way to end Day 1 for Simone! 13.300 – 5.5 D-score.

  • VT: Simone Rose = 13.750
  • UB: Gabrielle Hardie = 13.300
  • BB: Hezly Rivera = 13.750
  • FX: Tatum Drusch = 12.400

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:11 p.m.

Izzy Stassi BB: Great LOSO mount. Side aerial to LOSO, slight kick out balance check. Switch leap to switch half is low. Great full turn. Front aerial looked off, balance check. Jump to swing down. Double twist, small hop.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:09 p.m.

Kieryn Finnell UB: Toe 1/1, looked short on the handstand. Maloney to Pak salto. Van Leeuwen. Straddled Tkatchev. Full-twisting double back. 12.950.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:07 p.m.

Ly Bui FX: Very clean double back. Lovely back walkover into her wolf turns. 1.5 to tuck half, looked off-line, a bit crooked. Beautiful 2.5 twist. 12.200.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:05 p.m.

Jayla Hang, who has been recovering from a foot injury, goes for a double-twisting Yurchenko and is way short. Falls to her knees. Lays there and then sits up on her own, but medical staff is currently tending to her. She’s able to stand of her own accord. Looks like her left ankle. She’s helped off the podium. 12.700.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:02 p.m.

Ella Kate Parker was swinging a great set for her – she’s not a bars specialist by any means, and then right before the dismount, her hand slips during her sequence on the high bar. She didn’t come off, but she has to hang there and then get it going again. Finished strong, but she walked off the podium in tears. 11.000.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 1:00 p.m.

Lacie Saltzmann FX: Double pike, hop back. Double wolf turn. Punch front through to 1.5 twist. Iconic dive roll. Double back, slightly under-rotated, small hop forward. 12.300.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 12:58 p.m.

Tyler Turner UB: Clear hip half. Maloney. Straddled Tkatchev. Pak salto. Van Leeuwen. Stalder 1/1 and she goes over and comes off. Clean double layout. 12.150.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 12:56 p.m.

Hezly Rivera calm and confident on beam early. Switch leap to switch half was a bit low. Had a bit of a bobble on her next skill, but minor. Great double pike, just a step back. And now she’s gotten through the two routines she fell on at the Classic. Got to be a weight off, even if she wasn’t 100% then. 13.750.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 12:54 p.m.

Halfway through Day 1, Hezly Rivera is leading the way in the all-around with a 26.850, followed by Izzy Stassi (26.800) and Simone Rose and Reese Esponda in a tie for third (26.000).

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 12:40 p.m.

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 12:34 p.m.

Great set from Winter Cup champion Hezly Rivera on bars. She walks off the podium looking a bit relieved lol. A couple weeks ago at the Core Hydration Classic, Rivera fell on bars and beam before scratching floor and vault. She was dealing with back soreness then. Hopefully the issue has been resolved. 13.850, including a 5.8 difficulty score!

Fri. Aug. 25 @ 12:30 p.m.

Kieryn Finnell VT: Very clean full-twisting Yurchenko. Small step. 12.550.

Jayla Hang FX: Double back, great through the air, lots of power so a clean hop back. FHS full to arabesque. Double wolf turn. Double full, small hop. Hang missed the Classic after dealing with some injuries the past few months. These routines definitely aren’t near her full difficulty, but as a junior, she doesn’t need to throw crazy difficulty or anything.12.400.

Simone Rose BB: Simone looked like she hit a good set. Great 2.5 twist dismount. 12.900.
