USA Gymnastics’ Core Hydration Classic, formerly known as the U.S. Classic, will take place August 4-6 at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, with Olympians and world champions set to compete.

Headlining the women’s field are Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Melanie de Jesus dos Santos (France – exhibition), Kayla DiCello, and Leanne Wong.

This is Biles’ first meet back since the 2020 Tokyo Games (held in 2021), as well as Lee’s first elite meet since then. Despite recently announcing her own comeback, there has been no indication that Gabby Douglas will compete at this meet. Notably missing from the field is reigning U.S. all-around champion Konnor McClain, who recently announced she is enrolling at LSU this fall and taking a pause on elite competition until after the 2024 NCAA season.

Headlining the men’s field are Brandon Briones, Alex Diab, Asher Hong, Paul Juda, Yul Moldauer, Stephen Nedoroscik, Curran Phillips, Colin Van Wicklen, Colt Walker, Donnell Whittenburg, and Shane Wiskus.

Briones, Juda, and Walker are all set to return to elite competition after being setback by injuries. Notably missing from the men’s field is Brody Malone, who sustained a tibial plateau fracture, partially torn PCL, and fully torn LCL during high bar finals at the DTB Pokal in March. He is not expected to return to competition until spring 2024, if all goes according to plan.

Of note: Five of the top men’s athletes are in China competing at the World University Games this week and will not be in attendance at the Classic: Josh Karnes, Ian Skirkey, Fred Richard, Landen Blixt, and Taylor Christopulos.

While the senior women’s and all-session tickets are sold out, there are still tickets available for Friday’s Hopes Championships and junior women’s sessions and Sunday’s two men’s sessions. You can purchase tickets here.

Gymnastics Now will be on-site at NOW Arena, providing coverage of podium training and all competition sessions. Subscribe for all-access to articles, live blogs, photo galleries, and more.

Note: Gymnastics Now will venture to update the field when changes are made until the start of competition on Friday, August 4.

Draws for the 2023 Core Hydration Classic

USA Gymnastics published the draws for all sessions after adding additional sessions and extending competition through Sunday, giving fans the chance to plan around when their favorite gymnasts are competing.

The below draws/start lists are subject to change (read: they will change), and are not reflective of which athletes are competing which events. All athletes are slated for the all-around currently, but this will not be the case. (For example: Jade Carey told Gymnastics Now that she is likely only competing bars and beam.) The “true” start lists will be published, most likely, the day of competition. Follow Gymnastics Now on social to see the start lists as soon as we have them in hand at NOW Arena.
