ANTWERP, Belgium – Aleah Finnegan was one of the biggest stories during women’s qualifying at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships when she earned an individual berth to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The former U.S. elite and current LSU star switched nationalities to the Philippines in 2022 and was just seeing where the experience would take her. Fast forward to Monday, and Finnegan hit four-for-four, including a clutch beam set to close, to easily qualify to Paris among the top 14 eligible athletes in the all-around.

The other 13 athletes are Kaylia Nemour (ALG), Alexa Moreno (MEX), Filipa Martins (POR), Pauline Schaefer-Betz (GER), Bettina Lili Czifra (HUN), Aleah Finnegan (PHI), Alba Petisco (ESP), Anna Lashchevska (UKR), Lena Bickel (SUI), Hillary Heron (PAN), Lihie Raz (ISR), Caitlin Rooskrantz (RSA), Lucija Hribar (SLO), and Sona Artamonova (CZE).

While the U.S. women, Canada, and Great Britain already qualified teams to Paris at last year’s world championships, nine additional teams qualified at the conclusion of qualifying in Antwerp, with China, Brazil, Italy, The Netherlands, France, Japan, Australia, Romania, and South Korea rounding out the 12 teams that will compete at the Games next summer. Germany, Mexico, and Hungary will get one individual quota spot each for finishing 13th to 15th in the team standings.

Since France qualified a team, their individual quota spot as the host country will be reallocated to Rifda Irfanaluthfi (INA).

As for those moving on to the finals, Simone Biles has once again qualified to all five individual finals. She qualified first in the all-around (58.865) and on vault (14.949), beam (14.566), and floor (14.633). She qualified fifth to the bars final (14.400).

Shilese Jones qualified second to the all-around final (56.932), and she’ll join Biles in the bars final – where she qualified second (14.833) – beam final (6th – 14.033), and floor final (5th – 13.800).
