2024 MPSF Men’s Gymnastics Championship Recap: Stanford ends Oklahoma’s 17-year home win streak
Oklahoma’s 17-year win streak inside McCasland Field House came to an end Saturday as Stanford won the 2024 MPSF Men’s Gymnastics Championship – the Cardinal’s third straight conference title.
The 422.700 was Stanford’s highest score of the season so far and their second consecutive score north of 420. The Cardinal continues to build momentum ahead of the NCAA championships and has eliminated any doubt that they’re the favorites to win for the fifth time in a row.
Khoi Young led Stanford on Saturday, scoring an 86.350 in the all around and claiming two individual titles on vault (14.850) and parallel bars (14.750).

Individual Champions
- Floor: Emre Dodanli (Oklahoma) – 14.950
It’s no surprise that Dodanli claimed the floor title, and with the highest floor score of the weekend, this only further confirms that Dodanli is the favorite to win the event at NCAAs in two weeks.
- Pommel Horse: Ignacio Yockers (Oklahoma) – 15.150
The five-hundredths of a point difference between Yockers and Young sums up the intense pommel horse fight. Yockers is an elite pommel horse worker and adds yet another event title and score above 15. Both Young and Aidan Li scored season highs in second and third.
- Rings: Asher Hong (Stanford) – 15.000
Hong led the Stanford squad to a 70.75 on the event, followed by Arun Chhetri with a season-best 14.300. Benas also claimed a season best with his first ring score above 14 to finish third.
- Vault: Khoi Young (Stanford) – 14.850
As anticipated, the vault battle was a close one – two-tenths separated the top three routines. Jasper Smith-Gordon claimed his fifth (and third consecutive) 14.7 on vault this season as he finished second. Benas returned to the vault lineup for the first time in a month and claimed third with a clean Kas 1.5.
- Parallel Bars: Khoi Young (Stanford) – 14.750
Young and Colt Walker led the Cardinal to a 70.450 performance on the event; Walker claimed a season-best as well with a 14.700 to finish a close second to his teammate.
- High Bar: Kelton Christiansen (Oklahoma) – 14.100
The Sooners are the best high bar team in the country, and Saturday was a battle between Christiansen (No. 2 in the country) and Freeman (No. 3 in the country). Christiansen continues to show why he’s a national title contender on this event. Freeman finished a tenth behind with a 14.000.
- All-Around: Khoi Young (Stanford) – 86.350
Young had himself a day, winning two event titles as well as the all-around title by a margin of 2.5. Walker (83.850) and Benas (83.700) rounded out the podium. The 2023 MPSF champion, Asher Hong did not compete all-around.
