Shilese Jones has withdrawn from Day 2 of the USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials after an apparent injury on vault during warmups for Day 1 of women’s competition at the USA Gymnastics Olympic Trials.

Jones was warming up a double-twisting Yurchenko on vault when she landed awkwardly and immediately fell back, grabbing at her left knee/leg. She slid to the edge of the podium where her coach, Sarah Korngold, and medical staff put their arms around her and carried her off the field of play.

She would return to the competition floor and compete on bars – her best event – putting up a 14.675. She scratched from the remaining three events.

Jones previously withdrew from the U.S. championships due to a nagging shoulder injury flaring up.

While Jones did technically compete at trials and, therefore, could be considered for the team, the fact that she’s not able to compete on any events Sunday makes her a doubtful choice for the team.

This is the third injury for the U.S. women this week, following Skye Blakely and Kayla DiCello both tearing their Achilles.
