Everyone’s favorite pommel horse guy, Stephen Nedoroscik, is going Hollywood.

It was announced August 22 that the newly-minted two-time Olympic bronze medalist has joined the Season 33 cast of Dancing with the Stars. He was the first star to be confirmed for the season. Nedoroscik said on Good Morning America that he wants to incorporate gymnastics into his routines: “I want to bring some of that gymnastics — maybe a backflip or handstand. I want to have fun with it.”

The announcement comes after Nedoroscik won over America during the Paris Olympics, charming the country (and world) after securing the U.S. men’s first team medal since 2008 with the last routine in the final. He built on that stardom a few days later when he added a second bronze in the pommel horse final.

In the weeks since the team final, Nedoroscik has amassed more than 400,000 Instagram followers by simply being himself – a Rubik’s Cube-solving, Rocket League-loving, down-to-earth dude who happens to have two eye conditions, strabismus and coloboma, and prefers to compete sans glasses and squinting.

Fans were hoping Nedoroscik would be the gymnast tapped to join DWTS after he pommeled his way into the spotlight, with the hype reaching its peak after he was removed from the Gold Over America Tour website on Sunday, August 11.

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars premieres Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, with the episode available stream the next day on Hulu.
