Sam Peszek teams up with Olympians, NCAA stars for ‘Gym School’ at-home course
On Friday, 2008 Olympic silver medalist and NCAA champion Sam Peszek announced plans for a new online gymnastics course called Gym School.
The Beam Queen Bootcamp founder has teamed up with social impact agency Make It Loud to facilitate the program. It will be operated via a private Facebook group that participants will receive access to after registering, and 50 percent of the $79 registration fee will be donated back to each individual athlete’s club gym within two weeks of the conclusion of the program.
Gym School will take place for six weeks from March 23 to May 1, with three classes every weekday.
The course will feature over 40 instructors leading 90 Facebook live classes that will include informational, inspirational, and movement sessions, like dance and fitness classes, and cover everything from coaching tips to college recruiting.
Participants will be able to participate and ask questions during the live streamed classes. The streams will also be available on-demand for replay in the group beyond the end of the course on May 1.
Ten Olympians highlight the all-star roster, including Kyla Ross, Madison Kocian, Nastia Liukin, Bridget Sloan, Amanda Borden, Peng-Peng Lee, Toni-Ann Williams, Danusia Francis, Ivana Hong, and Sam Peszek herself.
Twenty-two decorated NCAA athletes will also lend their expertise, including Katelyn Ohashi, Felicia Hano, Danusia Francis, Isis Lowry, Amelia Hundley, Gracie Kramer, Ariana Berlin, Hallie Mossett, Peng-Peng Lee, Janay Honest, Alex McMurtry, Nicki Shapiro, McKenna Kelly, Olivia Karas, Shayla Worley, Baely Rowe, Makayla Hekker, Taylor Ricci, Risa Perez, Reema Zakharia, Ellette Craddock, and Melanie Sinclair.
The roster is rounded out by some of the top coaches, choreographers, and educators in the sport, including Valorie Kondos-Field, Luan Peszek, Ferly Prado, Beth Keller, Cory Tomlinson, Jill Hicks, Summer Juraszek, Cale Robinson, Nicole Jontony, and Amanda Turko.
More instructors are expected to be added in the coming days.
While Gym School is geared toward current gymnasts, coaches, judges, and other members of the gymnastics community can also participate.
Those interested can register for Gym School here anytime now through May 1 and receive access to the classes. The course is available to anyone who has access to a Facebook account, including internationally.
Gym School’s slogan is “inspiration in isolation.”
