For the first time since its inception, USA Gymnastics’ 2022 U.S. Classic will feature men’s divisions, with Olympic stars set to join women’s world medalists at the Maverick Center in Salt Lake Valley, Utah, from July 28-31.

Reigning world all-around silver medalist Leanne Wong (GAGE) headlines the senior women’s field. First-year senior Katelyn Jong (Metroplex) will also be in attendance.

The junior women’s field is stacked with up-and-coming stars, including 2021 U.S. junior all-around and uneven bars silver medalist Madray Johnson (WOGA).

In the inaugural men’s competition, Olympians Brody Malone (Stanford), Yul Moldauer (5280) and Shane Wiskus (USOPTC) will be challenged by 2022 Winter Cup pommel horse champion and all-around silver medalist Khoi Young (Stanford), 2022 NCAA all-around champion Paul Juda (Michigan) and rising star Fred Richard (Massachusetts Elite), who recently claimed four titles, including the all-around, at the 2022 Junior Pan American Championships in Brazil.

Reigning world pommel horse champion Stephen Nedoroscik (Penn State) is slated to compete for the first time since last fall’s world championships.

As the penultimate domestic event of the year, the U.S. Classic is also the final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships set to take place in Tampa, Fla., in August.

When and how to watch

Kicking off the weekend in Utah will be the Hopes Championships, which feature the next generation of female gymnasts and serves as the culmination of the Hope season. That event will take place Thursday, July 28 at 8:50 p.m. ET.

The U.S. Classic begins Friday, July 29, with junior women’s competition being split into two divisions on Friday at 9 p.m. ET and Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The senior women will compete on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Sunday is all about the guys, with a combined junior and senior men’s session taking place at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by an all-senior session at 8:30 p.m. ET.
