Top Scores of the Week
Team
Unsurprisingly, Oklahoma earned the top score in the country for the second week in a row, going 197.950 – yes, nearly a 198 in Week 2 – to best reigning national champion LSU (197.650), California (197.275), and Utah (196.800) in Session 2 of the Collegiate Quad.
There were a mix of event winners during Session 2, with each team having at least one except for Utah. Oklahoma’s Audrey Davis (bars – 9.975), Faith Torrez (beam – 9.975), and Jordan Bowers (all-around – 39.675) were the individual winners for the Sooners. For a moment, when freshman Addison Fatta fell on vault, everyone flashed back to the OU semifinal meltdown from last season, but it was just a fluke. The other five vaulters stepped up, and the Sooners didn’t have to count a fall.
Honorable mentions: Chances are, the Sooners are going to be occupying the “top team score” spot quite a bit this season, so let’s take a look at the other high scores from the weekend.
Of course, the Tigers weren’t far off from the Sooners’ mark – only three-tenths back – earning their highest score for a road opener in program history. After missing the first meet of the season due to injury, Haleigh Bryant made her return on beam, but she missed a connection and her 9.75 ended up being dropped. The Tigers’ freshman standout Kailin Chio won the vault title with a 9.95 and tied for second in the all-around.
In the third session of the Collegiate Quad, UCLA bested Kentucky, Ohio State, and Arkansas by more than a point. The Bruins improved their opening week score by more than 2 points, going 197.550 to earn the third-highest score in the country this season behind, you guessed it, Oklahoma and LSU.
Other teams to score over 197 in Week 2: California and Alabama.
Individual
- All-Around: Leanne Wong (Florida), Jade Carey (Oregon) – 39.725
- Vault: Makenzie Wilson (Kentucky), Anna Flynn Cashion (Kentucky), Danie Ferris (Florida), Mya Hooten (Minnesota), Kailin Chio (LSU) – 9.95
- Uneven Bars: Audrey Davis (Oklahoma), Grace McCallum (Utah) – 9.975
- Balance Beam: Faith Torrez (Oklahoma) – 9.975
- Floor Exercise: Aleah Finnegan (LSU), Jordan Chiles (UCLA) – 9.975
Honorable mention: World gold medalist and Olympic alternate Joscelyn Roberson made her collegiate debut for Arkansas during Session 3 of the Collegiate Quad. She competed in the all-around and tied for the title with a 39.475. Her best score came on floor, where she was second with a 9.95. She also earned a 9.875 on vault and 9.825s on bars and beam. We have no doubt there are big things in store for Roberson!

More storylines to follow
- Michigan graduate student Reyna Guggino was seen on crutches and wearing a boot ahead of Session 1 of the Collegiate Quad. She had competed vault the weekend prior.
- Skye and Sloane Blakely became the first pair of sisters to compete in the same Florida lineup since the 2014 NCAA Super Six team final when they both competed on bars in the Gators’ first meet of the season.
- LIU traveled the furthest of any team in Week 2. First, the New York-based team went approximately 1,775.1 miles to compete at Air Force. The team then hopped over to compete at Denver in a two-meet weekend before traveling 1,784.2 miles home.

Still no perfect 10s
Many fans were expecting the first perfect 10(s) of the season to be awarded at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in Oklahoma City, but there were only a slew of 9.975s – no 10s.
So, we’re two weeks into the season and haven’t had a perfect score. Last week, we mentioned that the last time a 10 wasn’t awarded in the first week of the season was 2018. The last time a 10 wasn’t awarded by Week 2? 2014. That year, no one was perfect until Week 4, when Florida’s Kytra Hunter and Bridget Sloan both achieved perfection on floor against Georgia.
