LSU Gymnast Olivia Dunne discusses fame, security issues as social media star
LSU Gymnastics junior Olivia Dunne recently sat down with Stephanie Gosk from the Today Show to talk about her social media following and massive fame.
Livvy, as she is known on social media, was extremely well-spoken when asked about her dedicated fanbase causing security concerns this season. The former USA Gymnastics elite and national team member has millions of followers who have been pushing the privacy boundaries by acting out at meets in which LSU competes.
In response to this, LSU has taken steps to increase security around the gymnasts. The team is now following new rules, including to avoid visiting the stands at the conclusion of a meet. Dunne also noted that the team has a traveling security guard that will be present at all meets.
As a response to critics who believe her content encourages this over-the-top behavior from fans, Dunne eloquently noted,
“As a woman, you’re not responsible for how a man looks at you and objectifies you. That’s not a woman’s responsibility.”
