Ever since the 2020 Olympic qualification process was announced earlier in the quad, we knew the six-month lead-up to Tokyo would be busy, but March is going to be a huge month for the international elite community.

Like, every weekend includes an international meet with Olympic implications… on top of our regular NCAA slate!

The latest development? All-around competitors and teams competing in the 2020 Stuttgart FIG EnBW DTB-Pokal All-Around World Cup and Team Challenge were just announced!

Having just returned from Stuttgart after the 2019 World Championships, it’d be reasonable to assume the roster might not be too exciting, but in an Olympic year, any and every competition holds some significance.

Remember: The three federations who earn the most points through the Individual All-Around World Cup series will earn an additional Olympic spot in addition to their 4-person team. Whoever places first earns 60 points for their country and each subsequent placement is five less points. The total points earned is the summation of total points from all four events in the series.

For the women, Elisabeth Seitz (DEU), Angelina Melnikova (RUS), Anne-Marie Padurariu (CAN), and Sunisa Lee (USA) headline the 13-woman roster.

Last March, at the 2019 Stuttgart World Cup, Padurariu and Seitz placed second and third, respectively, behind Simone Biles (USA). With clean performances, they’ll compete for podium spots alongside Melnikova and second-year senior Lee, with other athletes sure to add to this dynamic mix.

The men’s line-up is also stacked. David Belyavskiy (RUS), James Hall (GBR), Kazuma Kaya (JPN), Lin Chaopan (CHN), Oleg Verniaiev (UKR), and Yul Moldauer (USA) represent six of the 13 all-star athletes set to compete.

The 2020 Stuttgart FIG All-Around World Cup and Team Challenge is set to take place March 20-22.
