The field for the 2021 GK US Classic and 2021 GK Hopes Championships was announced by USA Gymnastics on Thursday, with numerous Olympic medalists and World champions set to attend. The meet marks the first elite competition in nine years for 2008 Olympic silver medalist and three-time World champion Chellsie Memmel as well as four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles’ first meet since the 2019 World Championships.

Biles will look to defend her 2019 GK US Classic all-around title while 2016 Rio Games teammate and Olympic silver medalist Laurie Hernandez will likely debut upgrades on both her signature events (beam and floor), as well as potentially add in bars and/or vault.

2017 World all-around champion Morgan Hurd will make her 2021 season debut alongside fellow team World gold medalists Jade Carey, Kara Eaker, Sunisa Lee, Grace McCallum, Riley McCusker, and 2016 Olympic team alternate MyKayla Skinner.

2021 Winter Cup all-around champion Jordan Chiles, 2021 American Classic all-around champion Skye Blakely, and 2019 GK US Classic junior all-around champion Konnor McClain join the crowded field of senior gymnasts looking to establish themselves as contenders for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic team.

2021 Winter Cup all-around champion Ella Kate Parker headlines the junior division, along with 2021 American Classic all-around champion Kailin Chio.

The GK Elite-sponsored events will take place from May 21-22 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Gymnastics Now will be on-site with live coverage of both the junior and senior divisions of the 2021 GK US Classic.

Due to the volume of competitors qualified to compete in the senior division of the GK US Classic, the field will be divided between two sessions on Saturday, May 22. Per USA Gymnastics, “Session assignments were chosen by random draw per USA Gymnastics’ rules and policies.”

Originally set for Saturday afternoon, the junior competition has been moved to Friday, May 21, and both the GK Hopes Championships divisions (11-12 and 13-14) will compete in a single session.

The event will be open to limited spectators with the priority for purchasing tickets given to local member clubs.

The GK Hopes Championships will air live on FloGymnastics on Friday, May 21 at 1:45 p.m. ET, followed by the GK US Classic junior competition at 6:45 p.m. ET.

On Saturday, May 22, the first senior session will stream on NBC’s Peacock starting at 1 p.m. ET; the second senior session will be broadcast on NBCSN at 7 p.m. ET that evening.

In addition to being the unofficial kickoff event for the 2021 summer Olympic season, the GK US Classic also serves as the final opportunity for female gymnasts to qualify to the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, which will be held June 3-6 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The GK Hopes Championships features rising stars from the women’s artistic discipline and marks the end of the 2021 Hopes season.

The fields for both the 2021 GK US Classic and 2021 GK Hopes Championships are listed below by session. This list is as of May 13, 2021.
